My name is Kristin, and I am a restaurant-trained professional baker living in the Bay Area.
In college I studied Economics and Middle Eastern Studies, and after a brief stint in the non-profit world I did something only crazy people do— I started emailing bakeries and restaurants, begging for a job in the mysterious and then foreign to me restaurant world.
I quit my full-time job, packed up my cubicle, and bought a pair of beat-up dansko clogs. The rest is history.
I have been cooking and baking professionally for almost two years now, and have learned a ton along the way.
Nowadays I find myself most passionate about bread, whole grains, and natural yeast, and continue to be inspired by local produce, heritage grains, and tradition. I’ve created this blog mainly as a recipe journal: as a place where I can share experiments and recipes in the hopes of perfecting my craft, testing recipes and inspiring others to experiment and learn as well.
